Job Duties :

Develop and maintain mobile applications.
Create and update web-based applications.
Manage and maintain cloud-based systems.
Handle server administration tasks.
Maintain personal computer software and hardware.
Support mainframe systems and applications.
Oversee distributed computing system maintenance.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on program development.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
Perform software updates and patches.
Ensure system security and data integrity.
Document system configurations and changes.
Provide technical support to end-users.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and industry trends.
Participate in the development of new IT projects and initiatives.

Responsibilities:

Competent to perform all programming, project management, and development assignments without close supervision; normally assigned the more complex aspects of systems work.
Works directly on complex application/technical problem identification and resolution, including responding to off-shift and weekend support calls.
Works independently on complex systems or infrastructure components that may be used by one or more applications or systems.
Drives application development focused around delivering business valuable features
Mentor and assist software engineers, providing technical assistance and direction as needed
Maintains high standards of software quality within the team by establishing good practices and habits
Identifies and encourage areas for growth and improvement within the team
Guide the team to develop a structured application/interface code, new program documentation, operations documentation, and user guides in a casual, flexible environment
Communicate with end users and internal customers to help direct development, debugging, and testing of application software for accuracy, integrity, interoperability, and completeness
Performs integrated testing and customer acceptance testing of components that requires careful planning and execution to ensure timely, quality results.
Employee is also responsible for performing other job duties as assigned by Caterpillar management from time to time.
The position manages the completion of its own work assignments and coordinates work with others. Based on past experiences and knowledge, the incumbent normally works independently with minimal management input and review of end results.
Typical customers include Caterpillar customers, dealers, other external companies who purchase services offered by Caterpillar as well as internal business unit and/or service center groups. The position is challenged to quickly and correctly identify problems that may not be obvious. The incumbent solves problems by determining the best course of action, within departmental guidelines, from many existing solutions. The incumbent sets priorities and establishes a work plan in-order to complete broadly defined assignments and achieve desired results. The position participates in brainstorming sessions focused on developing new approaches to meeting quality goals in the measure(s) stated.
You will work collaboratively with software engineering to deploy and operate our systems. Help automate and streamline our operations and processes. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations. And troubleshoot and resolve issues in our dev, test, and production environments.
Utilize various open-source technologies
Use various tools to orchestrate solutions
Build independent web-based tools, microservices and solutions
Write scripts and automation using Perl/Python/Groovy/Java/Bash
Understand how various systems work
Understand how IT operations are managed

Basic Qualifications: Caterpillar Recruitment 2023

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or any other Engineering field.

Minimum 9+years of IT experience with Java development background.

Technical Experience:

6+ years prior experience in platform or application development teams. Hands on experience using large scale software development, preferably in one of these languages: Java, Python, scripting languages is a must.
Knowledge of CI/CD solution on any platform with prior experience is must.
Expertise in at least one technology stack designing, coding, testing, and delivering software..
2+ experience on Key AWS services: EC2, S3, VPC, Route 53, RDS, Cloud Formation, EC2, DynamoDB (NoSQL), Lambda, logging/CloudWatch, IAM, Certificate Manager, ELB, EBS, ECS, CloudFront/WAF, SQS, SNS, SES.
Expertise in ELK Monitoring Tool that ensure Open-Source IT monitoring, network monitoring, server and applications monitoring is an added advantage
Understanding of Restful API, Apigee or any other API Gateway will be plus.
Experience on Docker and at least one Docker Container orchestration and ECS, Kubernetes
Expertise of Git, Bitbucket, Jira, Jenkins, Sonar, Splunk, Maven, AIM and/ or Continuous Delivery tools.
Drive adoption of continuous integration/inspection/deployment.
Good understanding on Agile methodology
